As a supplement store manager, personal trainer, and product tester for FeastGood.com, I am fortunate to have access to many protein powders. The Bulk Supplements Whey Isolate is one of the most versatile proteins I have encountered, despite only coming in an unflavored version.

- Bulk Supplements Whey Protein is a third-party-tested whey protein isolate with one of the highest protein percentages found in any protein (94.5%).
- It is completely unflavored, which means it doesn’t taste the best on its own, but it mixes well and can be used for cooking or baking (I used it in many recipes to help boost my meal’s protein content).
- Most third-party tested whey proteins cost up to $2.00 per serving; however, Bulk Supplement Whey is competitively priced between $1.15 and $1.45. With a wide cost range, you’ll want to ensure you’re shopping around for the best price (spoiler alert, I’ve already done the research, and here’s the best place to buy).

About Bulk Supplements
BulkSupplements.com is an online retailer offering over 500 pure nutritional supplement ingredients to consumers, wholesalers, and manufacturers.
I was surprised to see that they had active social media accounts as well as a community blog page that was kept up to date more consistently than big supplement brand giants like Muscletech.
I had previously thought of them purely as a wholesale retailer, and not a traditional supplement “brand” but they have quickly become one of my favorites.
First of all, you can get a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every single lot number of all products. The COA means that each product undergoes third party testing to ensure both quality and purity. You can use this online form to request a COA.
In researching BulkSupplements.com, one thing that really stood out was how easy it was to find information on everything I was looking for. They have a very comprehensive FAQ page, and I didn’t have to go hunting for anything.
They were incredibly upfront about things like where their products are sourced from. In my experience, some companies will advertise that their products are Made in the USA, but try to hide the fact that most of the raw ingredients are imported internationally.
Overview of Bulk Supplements Protein Powder
BulkSupplements offers a few protein options on its website. We specifically reviewed Whey Protein Isolate (90% Protein).
The macronutrient breakdown of Bulk Supplements Whey Isolate protein is:
- Protein: 26g
- Carbohydrates: 0g
- Fat: <1g
- Sugar: 0g
110 Calories, 104 Calories from Protein. At 94.5% protein per scoop, this is the highest protein percentage product I’ve had the pleasure of trying (just barely edging out Transparent Labs Whey Protein who sits at 93.3%).
BulkSupplements.com Whey Isolate is unflavoured and doesn’t have a flavored option. It’s not a great option to mix with only water, because unflavored whey protein doesn’t taste that good.
However, being unflavoured makes it an easy addition to smoothies, baking, and recipes like sauces or stews, which is where I feel this whey protein really shines.
Bulk Supplements Whey Protein
It is a third-party tested whey isolate with one of the highest protein percentages we’ve found in any protein (94.5%). In addition to using it for protein shakes, it’s excellent for baking and cooking.
Highlights: What I Liked About Bulk Supplements Protein
Can Be Mixed Into Anything
Because it is both unflavoured and a high-quality whey isolate, the protein dissolves easily and can be easily added to smoothies and sauces
One quick note is that if you are adding it to hot recipes, you want to start mixing the powder at room temperature and then slowly heat it up. Adding protein to something that is to hot can cause the protein to curdle.
High-quality and Third-party Tested
All BulkSupplements.com products are third-party tested, and Certificates of Analysis can be obtained for any product.
No Unnecessary Ingredients
There are no flavors, sweeteners, or additives. BulkSupplements Whey Isolate is also free from added sugar, soy, yeast, and gluten
This makes BulkSupplements isolate a great option for anyone with food sensitivities or allergies.
Being sugar-free, this product can also be assumed to be lactose-free (because lactose is a sugar), meaning it should be well-tolerated by people who are lactose intolerant.
Cost
With a range between $1.15 and $1.45 per serving, BulkSupplements is very reasonably priced and is less expensive than similar proteins in the same category.
BulkSupplements.com doesn’t have flashy packaging in the way that brands like Ghost do, and doesn’t have the flavor variety that other third-party tested brands like Transparent Labs do.
As a result, they can save money in manufacturing costs, and those savings are passed on to you. Both of the products mentioned above average close to $2.00 per scoop, compared to an average of $1.30 that BulkSupplements.com costs.
BulkSupplements.com does offer small (3-serving) packages that cost nearly $5.00 per serving, but if you buy 1kg or more (a minimum $48 investment), you will pay at most $1.45 per scoop.

Drawbacks: What I Didn’t Like About Bulk Supplements Protein
Doesn’t Taste Good Mixed With Water
If you are looking for a quick, convenient protein option after the gym, this probably isn’t it. When mixed with water, it adds a creamy texture and a slightly bitter flavor that isn’t very appealing.
That being said, I found I was able to mix it with juice, milk, and almond milk easily.
Note: If you’re looking for a whey supplement with a high protein percentage per serving, but also want it flavored, then check out my review of Transparent Labs. Otherwise, if you don’t care about the flavor, Bulk Supplements is excellent.
Doesn’t Come With a Scoop
BulkSupplements.com doesn’t come with a scoop to easily measure out 30g. This extra step of having to measure things out with tablespoons a bit tedious.
The bag does clearly state that 4 tbsp is approximately 30g. Dealing with approximations isn’t always ideal for someone following a strict regimen, however.
Though it’s a minor inconvenience, the time that it takes to measure out 4 tablespoons of powder versus the time it takes to measure out one scoop can be irritating if you use it daily.
This also means that you have to have measuring spoons handy to be able to measure your product out.
By cutting corners in this way, the company is able to keep their cost per serving low, as mentioned above.

Bulk Supplements Protein Review: My Experience
This product will definitely remain a staple in our household. I loved having it on my counter to quickly add a few tablespoons (offering close to 15g of protein) to recipes, especially for my kids.
I added this protein powder to spaghetti sauce and Kraft Dinner and nobody in my family had any idea. It does change the color slightly (as you can see in the photos, my traditionally deep red sauce looked a little bit more rosé) but the overall taste and texture were very similar.
I also really liked having an unflavoured option to add to smoothies. I have a lot of vanilla and fruit-flavored options at home, but it was nice to be able to have a smoothie and enjoy the full flavor of the fruit I added without it being overrun by sweet protein flavors.
One fun trick I have with unflavoured protein is to use it with popcorn. You can add your favorite popcorn seasonings (or try the Flavor God seasonings) to the unflavoured powder, and sprinkle it over popcorn for a high-protein snack.
I did try mixing this product with just water, and it was not a great experience. Even though the protein is unflavoured, it does still have a natural taste to it and is pretty gross when you try to drink it on its own.
The only other thing I didn’t really like about the BulkSupplements protein is that it comes in a Ziploc-style sealed bag. I was usually able to get the bag closed, but when the powder gets stuck in the seal it can be difficult to close completely.
I didn’t feel confident keeping the bag of protein in my gym bag or work bag for fear that the bag would open and spill all over my stuff. If I did take it with me for the day, I would put it into separate Tupperware or a shaker cup for more reliable transport.
Ultimately, whether the packaging is a pro or con is kind of up to you and how you intend to use it. It can be a great option for traveling because the bag can be packed more nicely into luggage due to its shape. Traditional protein tubs can have a lot of empty space and be more difficult to carry around.
However, once the bag is cut open, the seal may be unreliable.
How Does Bulk Supplements Stack Up Against Our Criteria For Whey Protein
At FeastGood, we have 8 different criteria for ranking whey protein powders. Here’s how Bulk Supplements Whey Protein stacked up:
Nutrition Label Transparency
Our rating: 4.5/5
This product is incredibly clear and straightforward. With only two ingredients and no unnecessary advertising on the packaging, this product has nothing to hide.
While some users have complained that this product doesn’t have a scoop, the label does state that 4 tbsp yields 30g of powder, which would net you 26g of protein, as per the nutrition facts panel.
We’ve removed half a point for transparency just on account of the extra effort required to easily measure out your protein.
Fat Content Transparency
Our rating: 5/5
The fat content (0g) is clearly labeled. Because there are no additional ingredients that may contain fat and this is a 90% whey isolate, it makes sense that this product contains no fat.
Effective Ingredients
Our rating: 5/5
As mentioned, there is nothing hidden or unnecessary in this product. It is a high-quality whey isolate that is third-party tested to ensure its quality.
Protein Percent of Calories
Our rating: 5/5
At 94.5% protein per scoop, this is the highest protein percentage we have found from any whey protein we’ve tested.
For reference, our standards for a good quality protein are one that falls between 75-84% protein per scoop, and great quality products are 85-95%. BulkSupplements.com whey isolate is as close to the high end of great as it could be.
Taste/flavor
Our rating: 0/5 or 5/5
BulkSupplements.com is only available in an unflavoured option. This allows it to blend seamlessly into smoothies and recipes but leaves a lot to be desired on its own.
Ultimately, whether the flavorless option is a 5/5 or 0/5 is all in how you use it. Just mixed with water, it’s not going to be good. But it’s a perfect option for increasing the protein content of meals or snacks without affecting the taste or texture.
Mixability
Our rating: 4/5
When just shaken with water, it did have small clumps and residue. When blended, or stirred into sauces it mixed perfectly.
Texture (Thick or Thin)
Our rating: Thin
As an isolate protein with very little carb or fat content and no additives, this product mixes up quite thin relative to other whey protein powders.
Satiety
Our rating: 3.5/5
This protein on its own is not filling, but it shouldn’t be. Whey protein digests at a rate of around 10g per hour, so 26g of isolate should break down in about 2 hours.
That being said, when you add protein to a dish like pasta, having the extra protein will increase the overall satiety of the dish by slowing digestion.
Who Is Bulk Supplements For?
Bulk Supplements is for:
- [The fussy eater] The flavorless nature of this protein means you can add extra protein to meals easily without modifying the taste, and with minimal changes to texture or color
- [The chef] This protein will mix easily into any baking or cooking where you want to increase the overall protein content
- [Almost everyone] It’s easy to use, mixes well, and dissolves into almost anything. It’s a great option for anyone needing to add protein to their day.
Who Shouldn’t Take Bulk Supplements Whey?
Bulk Supplements Whey protein is not for:
- If you are looking for something to mix with water] You still can, but it doesn’t taste great mixed with water so you might be better off going with something like Transparent Labs Isolate which comes in flavours like chocolate, vanilla, mocha, and cinnamon french toast.
Bulk Supplements Customer Reviews
The reviews on the BulkSupplements.com isolate were overall very positive – most people say it mixed well but a few found they had trouble dissolving it completely in juice.
There was a lot of positive feedback about the brand’s customer service and a lot of consumers stated they’ve been long-time (2+ years) repeat customers, which speaks to the quality of the product.
One common thread of negative feedback that I happen to agree with is that the product comes in a bag, and I found it could be irritating to get it to seal up completely and I didn’t feel confident putting it in my work/gym bag for transport.
BulkSupplements Isolate has a 4.5/5 on Amazon based on over 7000 reviews. The breakdown of Amazon reviews is the following:
- 5 stars: 74%
- 4 stars: 13%
- 3 stars: 6%
- 2 stars: 3%
- 1 star: 4%
Here is a breakdown of the rating by category which provides more insight into how customers feel about Bulk Supplements Whey:
- Blending Power: 4.4/5
- Value: 4.3/5
- Flavor: 4.1/5
As always, I browsed the 1 and 2 star reviews to see what customers weren’t liking about it.
Many reviews complained about the bad taste mixed with water.
Now, this is maybe some insider knowledge here, but for the record: Unflavoured does not mean “tasteless”. Many “unflavoured” products will still taste bitter or sour when just mixed with water – this is why companies invest time and money to flavor them.
The other negative reviews mostly had to do with the actual packaging. The product doesn’t contain a scoop, which can make measuring it out inconvenient, and the bag doesn’t have a great seal (as I mentioned).
On the bulksupplements.com website, this product has a 4.8/5 rating, but typically reviews from a supplement company’s own website will be a bit higher because customers reviewing there are more likely to be fans of the brand and have a positive bias.
