11 Low-Calorie Coffee Bean Drinks (2024 Menu)

Reviewed By :

Many Coffee Bean drinks contain whipped cream, syrups, and sauces, which can increase the calories to 500+.

“To be considered low calorie, a drink at Coffee Bean should contain fewer than 200 calories,” says Amanda Parker, our in-house nutritionist at FeastGood.com.

Thankfully, plenty of drinks at Coffee Bean can be reduced in calories by making simple customizations and ingredient swaps.

A Note About Menu Discrepancies:

While I was researching low calorie beverages at Coffee Bean for this article, I did come across quite a few inaccuracies in the nutrition guide that is displayed on their website.

There were a handful of drinks that I found on their website that I could not find on the nutrition guide. Unfortunately, the only way to look up the exact calories and macronutrients for each drink was through their nutrition guide, which didn’t seem fully reliable.

I did decide to call a Coffee Bean location to clear up the discrepancies that I was seeing, I called 3 or 4 locations before someone was finally able to answer a few of my questions.

Between the information that Coffee Bean provides online and the cross referencing I did with similar beverages and their calorie content, I was able to curate the list below that I believe to be the most accurate representation out there for low calorie Coffee Bean drinks.

Herbal Tea is a fruity alternative to Black Tea. It comes in various flavors and is made from hand-made blends of dried fruits, herbs, flowers, and spices.

The flavor options for the Herbal Infusion Tea include Swedish Berries, Ginseng Peppermint, Chai Roobios, African Sunrise, Lemon Chamomile, and the Wellness Blend.

The Herbal Tea is available hot or cold, contains no caffeine, and has zero calories

Black/Herbal Tea (0-10 calories)

coffee bean: black/herbal tea (0-10 calories)

The brewed Black and Green Tea when ordered with no added milk, sugar, or flavors comes in at only 5 calories no matter what size you order.

You also have the option to order the Black Tea in a decaf version and this does not affect the calorie count.

The black tea options include Chai, Scottish Breakfast, and Earl Grey. The green tea options include Moroccan Mint and Lung Ching Dragonwell.

If you order either of these drinks iced, the calories remain nearly the same if you don’t add milk or sweetener.

You can add flavor to these drinks for very few calories by adding a Stevia or Splenda packet and a splash of almond or nonfat milk.

coffee bean: iced or hot black coffee (5-15 Calories)

You can order a black coffee at the Coffee Bean in a light, dark, decaffeinated or flavored brew, made from high-quality Arabica beans.

As long as you don’t add any milk or sweetener, black coffee will only cost you 5 calories regardless of size. Adding Stevia or Splenda for a sweeter flavor won’t affect the calories.

A splash of almond or nonfat milk will add a very small amount of calories and give your drink a bit of creaminess.

The Espresso is a golden crema blend with a sweet, caramel-like aroma and a smooth and creamy consistency.

It’s the perfect option on the Coffee Bean menu for a quick caffeine-fueled pick-me-up that’s low in calories.

If you don’t want to drink your espresso plain but still want a low-calorie drink, you could add a Splenda or Stevia packet for a bit of added sweetness.

Americano (5-200 calories)

coffee bean: americano (5-200 calories)

The Americano is available in light, medium, dark, and decaffeinated options. The calories in an Americano can vary greatly depending on if you order it flavored or unflavoured.

Ordering an unflavoured Americano is the best way to keep calories as low as possible. However, there are a variety of different 12 oz and 16 oz flavored Americano drinks that you can enjoy for under 200 calories.

You can order your Americano iced or hot, but remember that this can vary the calorie content even if you choose the same flavor. For example, a Mocha Americano contains 170 calories, but the iced version contains 130 calories.

If you order a flavored Americano, stick to the 12 oz or 16 oz size. If you want to add flavor to an unflavoured Americano, try adding some Splenda or Stevia and a splash of almond milk. This will keep your drink under 50 calories.

Flavoured Iced Coffee (120-180 calories)

coffee bean: flavoured iced coffee (120-180 calories)

While choosing a flavored iced coffee is higher in calories compared to a black iced coffee, there are still several flavors that you can enjoy for under 200 calories.

Instead of using flavored syrups like most coffee establishments, Coffee Bean uses flavored powders in its flavored coffees.

So, if you want to reduce the calorie count in your iced coffee, you can ask for your beverage “lightened”, where only half the amount of powder is added.

Cold Brew Coffee & Lattes (25-150 Calories)

coffee bean: cold brew coffee lattes (25-150 Calories)

The Cold Brew Coffee is made with a blend of two kinds of coffee – Bali Blue Moon Coffee and Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Coffee with chicory.

Ordering your cold brew plain will give you the lowest-calorie beverage, not exceeding over 70 calories, no matter which size you choose.

Adding flavor to your cold brew will add calories in the form of carbs and sugar, and ordering it as a latte will add more calories to the milk.

You could add sweetness without the calories to a plain cold brew coffee by adding a Stevia or Splenda Packet.

To reduce the calories in a flavored cold brew or latte, choose nonfat or almond milk over whole milk, and ask for half the amount of syrup normally used.

Iced or Hot Cappuccino (100-200 Calories)

coffee bean: cappuccino (100-200 calories)

The Cappuccino contains just 100 calories in small size, if you order it iced. It’s a great option for those who enjoy drinking a more creamy and sweetened coffee but still want to keep the calories down.

If you want to cut calories, ask for the whole milk to be swapped for non-fat milk, saving up to 60 calories depending on how much milk is used.

Iced Cafe Latte (140-200 Calories)

coffee bean: iced cafe latte (140-200 Calories)

At Coffee Bean, if you want a lower calorie latte you are better off ordering your beverage iced instead of hot. All the hot lattes served at Coffee Bean contain well over 200 calories.

The flavored lattes at Coffee Bean already come with nonfat milk, but you could reduce the calories even further by asking for a lightened version of your drink with half the amount of sweetener powder.

Tea Latte (130-200 Calories)

coffee bean: tea latte (130-200 Calories)

If coffee isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy a tea-based latte for under 200 calories.

Like the cafe latte at Coffee Bean, the iced version of a tea latte contains fewer calories than the hot version.

Only 2 Tea Lattes contain 200 calories or less, and they must be ordered in a small size. So if you are minding your calories, order your drink iced.

You can reduce the calories further by asking for the lightened version with less sweetener powder and asking for a nonfat milk if it is not already being used.

If you are choosing one of the lattes that include a chocolate or vanilla powder, you could swap the regular version of this out for the sugar-free chocolate/vanilla powder that Coffee Bean offers.

Iced Teas (80-200 Calories)

coffee bean: iced teas (80-200 Calories)

Coffee bean offers different Cold Brew and fruity flavored iced tea options that make for a refreshing treat on a hot day, and many of these are well under 200 calories.

All of the calories in these iced teas come from carbohydrates and sugar. Therefore, the only way you could reduce the calorie content is to ask for this beverage to be “lightened” so that less of the syrup is added.

You could ask for no syrup however you will be compromising on the flavor.

Tips for Ordering Low-Calorie Drinks at Coffee Bean

tips for ordering low-calorie drinks at coffee bean

Go for One of the Lightened Drinks

Coffee Bean offers a lower calorie range called ‘Lightened Drinks.’

Each drink has under 200 calories in a small serving and fewer sugars than the rest of the flavored drinks menu.

The Lightened Drinks range includes the Lightened Vanilla Latte, the Lightened Iced Matcha Latte, the Lightened Mocha Ice Blended drink, and the Lightened Mango Cold Brew Tea.

With that said, almost any drink on the menu can be lightened by simply reducing the amount of flavored powder, choosing a lower-fat milk option, reducing syrup, and avoiding the whipped cream and drizzle add-on options.

Choose Unflavored Drinks

Coffee Bean has a range of standard drinks that contain no additional flavors, syrups, or toppings.

These drinks include Espresso, Americano, Iced Tea, and Cold Brew Coffee.

All the unflavored drinks are low in calories because they don’t contain the usual additions and extras that add a significant number of calories to your order.

Therefore, I suggest getting one of these drinks if you’re trying to watch your calorie intake.

Avoid Iced Blended Drinks

The Ice Blended Drinks at Coffee Bean contain flavored ‘signature powders,’ which contain around 50 calories per 14g serving.

These drinks also come with a whipped cream topping and are made with whole milk, which further enhances the calorie content of each Iced Blended option.

Going for a drink that does not contain a signature powder (such as the unflavored drinks) will help to keep the calories low.

Choose Half Syrup

Coffee Bean offers the option to go for ‘half syrup,’ which means they will use half the amount of syrup in your drink.

Typically, flavored syrups contain around 20 calories and 5 grams of sugar per pump.

Switching to the half syrup option when ordering a flavored drink will save you 10 calories per pump.

Avoid the Toppings

Some of the drinks at Coffee Bean, such as the Specialty Coffee and the Ice Blended drinks I mentioned above, come with a topping of whipped cream or chocolate or caramel sauce, adding extra calories to your coffee.

Whipped cream contains 120 calories per serving; an average caramel or chocolate sauce has around 80 calories per tablespoon.

By removing the whipped cream and sauce, you can quickly lower the calorie content of your drink by up to 200 calories.

Choose Your Modifiers Carefully

There is a wide range of modifiers that you can add to your drink at Coffee Bean.

Some of these modifiers are higher in calories than others, so it’s important to choose them carefully and go for the lower-calorie options when trying to watch your calorie intake.

Here is a table summarizing the various modifiers that are available to add to your drink at Coffee Bean:
