9 NEW Low Calorie Drinks at Dunkin’ Donuts

Dunkin’ Donuts isn’t just known for donuts. The popular chain also sells a variety of delicious hot and cold beverages, many of which are high in calories and added sugars.

I’ve been going to Dunkin’ Donuts for years, and I’ve come up with the best drinks you can enjoy even when you’re watching your calorie intake.

The top 9 low-calorie drinks at Dunkin’ Donuts are:

  • Espresso (5 calories)
  • Coffee (5 calories)
  • Unsweetened Tea or Green Tea (5 calories)
  • Cold Brew (5 calories)
  • Americano (10 calories)
  • Iced or Hot Cappucino with skim milk (70 calories)
  • Iced or Hot Macchiato with coconut milk (40 calories)
  • Iced or Hot Latte with coconut milk (50 calories)
  • Dunkin’ Refreshers (130 calories)

The calorie counts above are based on medium-sized beverages.

While these drinks are great low-calorie options, you can also customize them to add some flavor without adding a ton of calories. I’ll show you how to do this in the article below.

I’ll also provide tips for reducing the overall calorie content when ordering drinks from Dunkin’ Donuts and show you which drinks to avoid if you are trying to keep your daily calories low.

3. Unsweetened Tea or Green Tea (5 Calories)

The unsweetened and green teas are naturally low in calories with just 5 calories in a small, medium, or large beverage.

If you don’t like the taste of the unsweetened tea or plain green tea, you can add a blueberry or raspberry flavor shot for only an additional 5 calories.

4. Cold Brew (5 calories)

Dunkin’ Donuts Cold Brew (5 calories)

A great option on a warmer day, this coffee is steeped overnight in cold water for at least 12 hours to give you a great coffee taste for your day.

Add a little flavor to it and keep the calories down by adding one pod of cream instead of the typical three and get a sugar packet on the side. This will help to keep your calories down to around 50 calories per drink instead of 120 or more.

You could even add one pump of any flavor swirl to bring your total calories to 100 calories.

5. Americano (10 calories)

Dunkin’ Donuts Americano (10 calories)

If you prefer the flavor of espresso but want a larger drink than simply a shot of espresso, the Americano is for you. You will also get 2 shots of espresso in this drink.

You can always add some coconut milk (10 calories for a medium drink), oat milk (25 calories for a medium drink), or skim milk (15 calories for a medium drink) to help add some flavor to the Americano while keeping the calories down.

6. Plain Iced or Hot Cappuccino With Skim Milk (70 calories for a medium-sized drink)

Tips For Ordering Low-Calorie Drinks At Dunkin’ Donuts

Tips for ordering low-calorie drinks at Dunkin’ Donuts

To save on calories the next time you order at Dunkin’ Donuts, use these tips:

  • Ask for one pump of flavor swirl
  • Choose skim, oat, or coconut milk instead of whole milk or cream
  • Skip the whip and drizzle
  • Don’t add extra sugar

Ask for One Pump of Flavor Swirl

You can choose from a variety of flavor swirl add-ons for your coffees, lattes, cold brews, and other beverages. The flavor swirl add-ons come in cake batter swirl, butter pecan swirl, caramel swirl, and French vanilla swirl. Although these are delicious, they add 150-160 calories to a medium-sized drink.

Drinks with flavor swirls typically come with three pumps of the flavor swirl. When adding a flavor swirl to your drinks, ask for one pump instead. This will only add 50-55 calories to your drink.

For example, ordering a medium coffee with one pump of a French vanilla swirl will be 55 calories total while ordering it with three full flavor swirl pumps will be 155 calories.

Choose Skim, Oat, or Coconut Milk Instead of Whole Milk or Cream

Instead of ordering your coffee with whole milk or cream, which can increase your calories by up to 85 calories, order it with skim milk, coconut milk, or oat milk.

The below table shows how many calories you’ll add to your drink by choosing a lower-calorie milk option. As you can see, you can save 40-75 calories by ordering your drink with low-fat or non-dairy milk:

Skim MilkCoconut MilkOat Milk
Small10 calories5 calories10 calories
Medium15 calories10 calories25 calories
Large20 calories15 calories45 calories

Skip The Whip & Drizzle

Whipped cream and chocolate or caramel drizzle are available with Dunkin’ Donuts’ signature hot and cold lattes: Cake Batter Signature Latte, Caramel Craze Signature Latte, and Cocoa Mocha Signature Latte. However, these additions can add up to 80 calories per drink.

Skip these add-ons if you want to save those calories and have extra room to eat more food at one of your other meals for the day.

Instead, try ordering your signature latte with no whip or drizzle, skim milk, and one pump of flavor swirl. The below table shows how the calorie counts differ in a signature latte with these substitutions:

Calories With Whip, Drizzle, Whole Milk, and Three Pumps of Flavor SwirlCalories with No Whip, No Drizzle, Skim Milk, and One Pump of Flavor Swirl
Cake Batter330190
Caramel Craze410160
Cocoa Mocha400150

Don’t Add Extra Sugar

Adding sugar to your drinks is a great way to add some sweetness, but it can also add 105 calories or more to your medium beverage, especially if the barista adds it for you and you don’t know how much they’re adding.

Even if you add the sugar yourself, one tablespoon is equal to 48 calories, and those calories can add up if you put multiple tablespoons in your beverage.

Flavor shots are a great option to keep calories down without losing out on the flavor. Each flavor shot is sugar-free and unsweetened. You can choose from vanilla, hazelnut, toasted almond, blueberry, raspberry, and coconut flavor swirls.

These will increase your calories for a medium drink by only 5-10 calories compared to the 105 with added sugar.

Drinks To Avoid At Dunkin’ Donuts

Here are the top three drinks to avoid at Dunkin’ Donuts if you are looking for low-calorie drinks. These are less customizable drinks and increase your daily calorie intake drastically.

  • Butter Pecan Swirl Frozen Coffee
  • Vanilla Bean Coolatta
  • Frozen Chocolate (700 calories)

1. Butter Pecan Swirl Frozen Coffee (890 calories for a medium-sized drink)

  • Large – 1160 calories

Butter Pecan Swirl Frozen Coffee with cream takes the award for the highest calorie frozen coffee drink at Dunkin’ Donuts with anywhere from 630-1160 calories.

If you are still looking to order a frozen coffee, try ordering a Cake Batter Swirl frozen coffee with skim milk instead as the lower calorie option here (490 calories for a small, 670 calories for a medium, and 860 calories for a large).

2. Vanilla Bean Coolatta (590 calories for a medium-sized drink)

Dunkin’ Donuts Vanilla bean coolatta (590 calories for a medium-sized drink)

Calories

  • Small – 390 calories
  • Medium – 590 calories
  • Large – 790 calories

A vanilla bean coolatta is the highest calorie option of the three coolatta flavors offered at Dunkin’ Donuts (vanilla bean, blue raspberry, and strawberry).

If you’d like to order a coolatta, choose blue raspberry or strawberry instead, which both have 350 calories in a medium-sized drink.

3. Frozen Chocolate (700 calories for a medium-sized drink)

Dunkin’ Donuts Frozen Chocolate (700 calories for a medium-sized drink)

Calories

  • Small – 500 calories
  • Medium – 700 calories
  • Large – 900 calories

A sweet dessert treat, this frozen drink at Dunkin’ Donuts is one to avoid if you are looking for a low-calorie option. It’s topped with whipped cream and has drizzle on top as well as throughout the drink.

You can customize the type of flavor by adding flavor swirls, but this will add 50-160 more more calories to your beverage.
