Low Calorie Smoothie King: 13 Options Rated By Nutritionist

Despite many of the Smoothie King drinks being packed full of calories and sugar, there are some options that are lower in calories than others.

The 13 lowest-calorie smoothies at Smoothie King are:

Below, I’m going to explain how you can customize each of these drinks to get them even lower calories, as well as explain a few smoothies that you should avoid if you want to watch your calories.

What Is Considered A Low-Calorie Smoothie At Smoothie King?

A smoothie that has fewer than 300 calories can be classed as a low-calorie option at Smoothie King.

What Increases Calories In A Smoothie At Smoothie King?

The main things that increase the calorie content at Smoothie King are:

  • Fruits
  • Nutritional Enhancers
  • Fruit Juice Blends

Fruits

Depending on the fruits that are used in the smoothie, the calories will be different. Most of the smoothies at Smoothie King contain at least one fruit but some have multiple different fruits.

If you’re trying to reduce your calorie intake, go for the smoothies that contain more veggies than fruits, as vegetables are generally lower calories than fruits.

Alternatively, stick to the smoothies that mainly consist of berries instead of banana or passionfruit, because berries are lower in calories and sugar.

Here’s a list of the common fruits at Smoothie King and their calories:

FruitCalories per 100 grams
Passionfruit97
Bananas89
Apples52
Pineapple50
Strawberries33

Nutritional Enhancers

Smoothie King offers a range of nutritional enhancers that can be added to your drink, including Muscle Builder, Whey Protein, Gladiator Protein, and Keto Protein.

Although the “Nutritional Enhancers” add extra nutrients to the smoothie, such as protein, creatine monohydrate, or collagen peptides, they aren’t calorie-free.

For example, the Keto Protein contains 70 calories per serving, whereas the whey protein has 30 calories.

So I’m not suggesting skipping the “Nutritional Enhancers”, but definitely be mindful of the calories each one has.

Here’s a summary of the lowest to highest calorie enhancers at Smoothie King:

EnhancerCalories
Muscle Builder5
Gladiator Protein25
Lean1 Protein25
FITAID + Paleo Protein30
Whey Protein30
Sunwarrior Organic Vegan Protein35
Keto Protein70

Fruit Juice Blends

Many of the Smoothie King drinks contain a mixture of fruits and fruit juice blends. This was shocking to me because of how high-calorie the fruit juice blends can be.

The fruit juice blends enhance the flavor and sweetness of the drink but they also add to the calories.

For example, the Apple Pineapple Juice Blend contains 130 calories and 31 grams of carbohydrates.

To save calories, you can always swap the fruit juices with water, which contains no calories.

Alternatively, you can ask for “half water” and “half fruit juice”, which will cut the calories in half, but still maintain most of the sweetness/flavor of the smoothie.

You could also substitute the fruit juice with almond milk, which contains 60 calories per cup, but this will change the flavor of the smoothie.

The carb to protein ratio in the Slim-N-Trim Strawberry is almost 2:1, making it a great option if you’re searching for a post-workout drink.

However, note that if you’re trying to gain muscle, it’s not going to be the best option because of its low number of calories.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • Gladiator Protein Vanilla
  • Lean1 Vanilla Protein
  • Protein Blend
  • Stevia Plant-Based Sweetener
  • Fiber Blend Enhancer

Calories

The stevia sweetener makes the protein drink taste sweet and delicious without adding extra calories or sugars.

The fresh strawberries contain lots of potent antioxidants that can reduce the levels of stress inside your cells and help you to fight against disease or infection.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • Lean1 Vanilla Protein
  • Stevia Plant-based Sweetener

There are between 170 and 340 mg of caffeine in this protein drink, depending on which size you order. You’ll get an energy boost without consuming a large number of calories, making this option perfect for those of you who are trying to lose weight.

Because this smoothie is made with fresh fruit, it contains between 78 and 155 grams of carbohydrates (63 to 126 grams of sugars). This is something to keep in mind if you’re trying to stick to a specific macronutrient breakdown.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • Mangoes

  • Pure Recharge Enhancer
  • Electrolyte Blend

Calories

Smoothie King: Gladiator Strawberry - 220 calories

The Gladiator Strawberry comes in vanilla and chocolate flavors, both of which contain 10 calories more than the strawberry option. It has 4 grams of carbs (1 gram of sugar) and an impressive 45 grams of protein.

It’s the perfect option if you’re looking for something to increase your protein intake without adding too many carbs or calories to your diet.

Each Gladiator drink is made with protein powder and a choice of two different fruits, so you can customize your drink based on your needs and preferences.

Ingredients

Smoothie King: Angel Food Slim - 220 calories

Because of the fresh fruit, there are 55 grams of carbohydrates in 20 oz and 109 grams in a 40 oz serving.

If you want to reduce the number of carbs and calories in your Angel Food Slim drink, ask for some of the fresh bananas to be swapped for fresh strawberries.

The Berry Punch consists of a fruity blend of berries and electrolytes. The Electrolyte Blend contains 280 mg of sodium, which is an essential mineral for fluid balance and cellular function.

If you want to cut the calories with this smoothie, ask for it without the Apple Blueberry Juice Blend and ask for it with water instead.

This will save you 120 calories and 29 grams of carbohydrates but shouldn’t affect the taste too much. You will still get a fruity combination of a variety of berries.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries*
  • Blueberries (Wild)
  • Raspberries
  • Apple Blueberry Juice Blend
  • Electrolyte Blend

Calories

  • 20 oz – 260 calories

Smoothie King: Blueberry Heaven - 260 calories

Blueberry Heaven is one of the Be Well Blends at Smoothie King. It is made using fresh bananas and blueberries, which cause this drink to be relatively high in carbohydrates. (57 to 115 grams of carbs).

However, these carbs are from natural sources and there is no added sugar in any size of this smoothie.

The bananas and berries provide you with lots of micronutrients and antioxidants. Bananas can lower your blood pressure, improve digestive health, and regulate fluid balance in the body.

Blueberries have lots of polyphenols, which are antioxidants that reduce stress in the body

Ingredients

  • Bananas
  • Blueberries (Wild)
  • Apple Blueberry Juice Blend
  • White Grape Lemon Juice Blend
  • Protein Blend

Calories

It is made with fresh pineapples and mangoes, both of which contain high amounts of vitamin C, an antioxidant that can boost immunity, and skin and eye health.

Smoothie King: Greek Yogurt Pineapple Mango - 280 calories

This Stay Slim Blend of fruit and Greek yogurt has between 280 and 570 calories, making it one of the lowest calorie options on the Smoothie King menu.

Greek yogurt is naturally high in animal protein, calcium, and B vitamins. Calcium is required for bone health and muscle contraction, and the B vitamins are needed for energy metabolism.

Because of the Greek yogurt contents of the Greek Yogurt Pineapple Mango, you will get 13 to 26 grams of protein per serving. The whole fruits and Fiber Blend Enhancer provide 5 to 11 grams of plant-based fiber, which can boost your digestion and improve your gut health

Ingredients

Smoothie King: MangoFest - 300 calories

The MangoFest Stay Slim Blend is naturally low in fat and high in nutrients. Mangoes are high in vitamin A and vitamin C, which are essential to boost the health of your eyes, hair, skin, and immune function. Papaya is also high in vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Since there aren’t any ingredients that you can remove or swap in this drink without compromising the taste, I recommend going for the smallest-sized drink (20 oz) to keep the calories down.

Ingredients

  • Mangoes
  • Apple Pineapple Juice Blend
  • Papaya Juice Blend

Calories

  • 20 oz – 300 calories
  • 32 oz – 450 calories

13. Veggie Lemon Ginger Spinach (310 calories)

Smoothie King: Veggie Lemon Ginger Spinach - 310 calories

The Veggie Lemon Ginger Spinach smoothie is one of the Be Well Blends that contains several different fruits and organic vegetables.

Aside from the natural sweetness of the fruits, this smoothie is sweetened even further with stevia. This plant-based sweetener is low in calories and helps with blood sugar regulation and weight loss.

If you want to lower the calories in this drink, ask for it without the Papaya Juice Blend or White Grape Lemon Juice Blend and substitute with either water or plant-based milk.

This will save you 200 calories without removing too many of the vitamins and minerals that are found within the veggies.

More Tips For Ordering Low-Calorie Smoothies At Smoothie King

tips for ordering low calorie smoothie at smoothie king

Here are some additional tips to keep the calories down when you’re ordering a drink at Smoothie King:

  • Ask For Non-Fat Milk Or Greek Yogurt
  • Choose A Stay Slim Blend
  • Choose a Kids’ Blend

1. Ask For Non-Fat Milk Or Greek Yogurt

Whole milk contains 150 calories per cup. In comparison, non-fat milk and Greek yogurt contain around 86 calories and 80 calories per cup, respectively.

By making the switch to non-fat milk or Greek yogurt, you could be saving around 65 to 70 calories per cup.

2. Choose A Stay Slim Blend

All of the Stay Slim Blends contain less than 350 calories.

By ordering from this menu, you can rest assured knowing that you aren’t consuming any more than a few hundred calories.

3. Choose a Kids’ Blend

Many of the Kids’ Blends are relatively low in calories compared to some of the adult blends.

This is mostly because the adult blends come in 20, 32, and 40-ounce cups whereas the kids’ blends come in 12-ounce cups.

For example, the Strawberry Bluegurt Blitz contains just 160 calories and the Choc-A-Laka contains 190 calories.

However, it’s important to note that a few of the Kids’ Blends contain more calories than some of the adult drinks that are listed in this article.

The CW Jr has 240 calories. While this is still considered lower than our threshold of what’s considered “low calorie”, just know that you can find a few adult blends that are lower than 240 calories.

Make sure to look at the menu before you order to check the relative calorie content of each drink.

The strawberry flavor is the most calorie-dense as it contains almost 1,000 calories in a 20 oz serving and almost 2,000 in the largest, 40 oz cup.

This option might be great if you’re looking for easy ways to increase your calorie intake. However, it’s not ideal if you’re searching for weight-loss-friendly drinks on the Smoothie King menu.
